Vim-fork focused on extensibility and usability
e995b21567
This feature was accidentally removed when doing the initial import from vim. It makes vim use pipes instead of temporary files for filtering buffers through shell commands. I found that this was missing when looking for references of SHELL_READ/SHELL_WRITE outside mch_call_shell`. When `mch_call_shell` is reimplemented on top of libuv process management facilities, pipes will always be used for communication with child processes so it makes sense to enable the feature permanently. |

neovim (bountysource fundraiser)
What's this?
Neovim is a project that seeks to aggressively refactor vim in order to:
- Simplify maintenance
- Split the work between multiple developers
- Enable the implementation of new/modern user interfaces without any modifications to the core source
- Improve extensibility with a new plugin architecture
For lots more details, see the wiki!
What's been done so far
- Source tree was cleaned up, leaving only files necessary for compilation/testing of the core
- Source files were processed with unifdef to remove tons of
FEAT_*
macros - Files were processed with uncrustify to normalize source code formatting
- The autotools build system was replaced by CMake
What's being worked on now
- Porting all IO to libuv
- Lots of refactoring
- A VimL -> Lua transpiler
How do I get it?
There is a formula for OSX/homebrew, a PKGBUILD for Arch Linux, and detailed instructions for building on other OSes.
